My experience as a writer means I ensure each software application I work on is driven by a strong narrative thread where the user is the protagonist.
My experience as an editor means I pay attention to the big picture and the details.
When I write about a subject, I consider how the underlying, hidden components affect what’s visible thanks to my knowledge of the inner workings of software design.
Thanks to sewing, gardening, and crafting, I pay attention to how things must be constructed to come together successfully. I try to supply the optimal conditions things need to grow and thrive — but I also know how to adapt if those optimal conditions (inevitably) can’t be met.
Even my experience as a parent means I can juggle multiple demands at once, ride the waves of ambiguity with ease, and navigate conflict with diplomatic aplomb — things that come in quite handy when leading globally distributed design teams as an Experience Director.
